Just a few guest reviews for Boatmans cottage near Wickham Market and the Suffolk Heritage Coast. What our guests say about their short break, longer stay and relaxing holiday time-out in this wonderful countryside setting.
“OMG I knew those photos were too good to be true – they do not do this cottage justice! Amazing cute place.
Tranquil is not the word. To sit and look out over the river is just heaven.”
A & J, Lincolnshire
“Very relaxing and beautiful cottage, so clean and perfectly stocked with everything. Very welcoming hosts.
Enjoyed our week immensely and will be back to enjoy the garden and river.”
Helen & Mark, Essex
“This time we found loads of walks from the cottage, back to cottage. They were amazing and can’t believe all the hidden gems around here.
A home away from home. Thank you Jan!”
The Tanners, Ipswich – again!
“The most lovely garden with glorious views surrounding us, affording peace and privacy. The garden looks effortless, but actually shows enormous care and attention to the planting and hard work. All set off by the river, wonderful birdsong and the hooting of an owl at night.
Saw deer on the other side of the bank too…”
Jane & Steph
“We have had an amazing week here in Suffolk.
The cottage is just perfect and with the gorgeous weather, we have made the most of the river and had barbecues almost every night – where we have seen the kingfishers, nuthatch and many other birds.
It has been so relaxing , painting by the river and rowing up and down…”
Debbie & James, Milton Keynes
“5th time around and as beautiful as ever!
Some of the best pike fishing in the area with fish to 8lb and broken off by largest still fish! Total peace and quiet. Thank you Boatmans.”
Lisa & Michael, Essex
“Our most memorable wildlife moment was when a beautiful hare accompanied us down the lane to the village. Thanks for sharing this gorgeous spot!”
Jim & Liz, Derbyshire
“The cottage is in a wonderful location. Cycling in the area is delightful. There are so many places to visit we have been busy all week.
Minsmere, Framlingham, Southwold, Aldeburgh and Woodbridge are all worth visiting. A concert at Snape was superb ! Thank you for the welcome pack.”

From half-timbered villages to impressive castle fortresses, haunting coastline and huge flint churches, Suffolk can’t fail to please. Many of our guests are keen walkers or cyclists who love the way they can set out straight from the doorstep to enjoy the country lanes and little villages close by. Others head off in all directions to get a taste of the place, whether that’s for Aldeburgh’s famous fish and chips on the beach, some delicious local farm produce like asparagus or the fruits of a brewery, vineyard or distillery or two. What will you discover?
